Greetings from the night shift. Several Woods Riders were recognized at the D36 awards dinner January 18th. Ron Minor picked up a 1st place for the spring CC C-Vet series and came back as a B-Vet and won the fall series! Scott Rabeneau was the winner in the spring CC B-Senior, Wayne Hatch was 5th A-Senior for CC, and Pete Prichard was the top CC A-Super Senior. Our very own Nova Maldonado took top honors in the girls 13-15 Youth Enduro series while local rider Dave Wood was 2nd top twenty A rider and Pete Prichard won the A-Super Senior enduro award for 2002. The party broke up early for cross country crowd so they could get ready for their 25th attempt to master Prairie City GP the following morning.
Race report P.C.G.P. 2003; Got a hole shot (practiced running to my bike several times before the start) first lap very slippery and very fast. Second lap, still on my wheels but lots of riders down, leader in my class (Fred S.) is only twenty-eight seconds ahead of me! Third lap, visibility is poor due to fog and mud, a "B" rider on a 426Yamaha used me to keep him from over jumping, the result was extremely bruising for all concerned. The rest of lap three, all of lap four and five I am eating ibuprofen by the hand full and trying to hold the throttle barrel in a position that will make the bike move forward, pain is preventing any attempt at race speeds and I have to pull as far off of the course as is possible whenever I hear another rider approach from behind just in case that guy ever gets the Yamaha started. I just can't risk meeting him twice in one day. At last the finish and a large bag of ice to tape around my right are, hope I can use it by HOLLISTER! Hope the other Woods Riders had a better ride.
Down but not out,
Pete
